Choi, Won-joon/Task 3.3_ Q3 & Task 3.4_ Q1 & Character description Assignment (p. 77)/Narrative Composition(2) Tuesday & 09:00~11:00

Task 3.3_ Q3

The writer is effectively expressing feelings about a man with a metaphor. Making use of "rain", it carries deeper emotions. It took me inside the sadness of the writer's missing the sacrificial love of "the brother of rain" that the writer had been so accustomed to before he was gone.

Task 3.4_ Q1

One of my friends is gasoline.

Rock Scissors Papers

At the beginning of this semester, someone added me as a friend in Facebook. It was Young-hoon, an old friend of mine. We have been classmates in the third and fourth grade of Samcheok elementary school. While looking through his pictures on his Facebook page, I tried to remember how he was like when we were little kids. Just then, the memory about him flashed through my brain; rock scissors papers.

He was taller than any others in our classroom and his curly hair went along with his sporty look fashion. Quite far from his appearance, he liked to spend time reading or just talking with other friends. However, there was one thing that made him become a different kind of child. When it comes to competitions or games, he was a gasoline itself. Nobody could distinguish if it was gasoline or water before seeing his losing a game.

I remember that we were going on a spring field trip. In the bus, at the back of my seat, Young-hoon and another classmate was playing "rock scissors paper". Young-hoon was losing again and again. His voice was slowly growing louder and louder so I turned back and watched the game.

"Rock scissors paper!" Young-hoon lost. "Once again," he said. "Rock scissors paper!" He lost again. "Again!" his voice was shivering and the same situation repeated. "Again!", "Again!" and "Again!" His eyes were growing bigger and bigger and his face became so red that it almost seemed like bleeding. At last, he started to cry but never stopped playing it. The friend who was playing with Young-hoon looked scared but had no choice but to stretch his arms and show anything with his right hand because of Young-hoon's crying out "Again!" His gasoline-like desire to win games was on fire. In the end, the teacher came and calmed him down. This was the first but not the last time I saw Young-hoon burning aggressively.

I think I will meet Young-hoon in no time. However, I don't think I would like to play any kind of game with him, especially "rock scissors papers".
